although i started writing “collapse” two years ago, it took until coming to berlin to finish the song. my parents visited me for my birthday and on their last night sat me down and said, “babyhayes, you have to release music or you’ll never reach your dreams of being our most famous baby of all time.”

they were right.

immediately i realized that if i were to make my parents proud to the maximum degree, there was no better course of action than to finish my magnum opus of overt sexual reference, “collapse.”

over the next few weeks, i huddled in the confines of the nyu berlin first floor music room, re-writing and recording “collapse,” giving it the final touch it needed.

it’s fitting, i think, to finish a sexy song in the sexiest city in the world. berlin is a truly liberated place, and “collapse” is a liberated song. one that it’s taken me a lot of maturing to feel comfortable with as a statement. when you think about it, it’s a pairing as timeless as ariana grande and nicki minaj (rip). it’s like iggy azaelea and charli xcx, selena gomez and the scene, or jack antonoff and bisexual white women. just like these classic duos, “collapse” and berlin were paired by the heavens.

AND on april seventeenth, she will be YOURS! what a beautiful thing.

on that fateful day, the stork of distrokid will deliver her safely to your doorstep. from there, i can only hope you will let her reach a healthy maturity by adding her to your PLAYLIST and STREAMING. that’s what good parents do.

to ensure this bright future, PRESAVE NOW, and also send this to seven friends or you’ll have bad luck for the next TWO YEARS!!!!

thx xx
